Chase sent me over his pics he took at Dragon Con – not many, but got some nice ones of my Tightrope Walker.
Getting ready in the room (standing up after putting my shoes on, looks like):
Trying to fix that one weird pleat before we took photos:
Full length:
I’m not so sure I like this photo yet I do like the photo. Such a conundrum.
This one is my fav:
Aaand my capelet came undone again.
One really random indoor photo where I obviously wasn’t prepared:
The whole Dcon gallery is here – it’s only 3.5 pages long, but it’s something at least.
I played a game at Dragon Con while wearing this. I counted how many times I was called by the Tightrope Walker’s various names. Here were the results:
Sally Slater: 0
Daisy de la Cruz: 2
Lillian Gracey: 10+ (lost count)
I find it easier to just call her Tightrope Walker or T.W. for simplicity’s sake.
Last night I pulled out my wig and started playing with it. I THINK this is what I’m going to do:
Instead of using the clip-on pigtails, I’m using part of the wig hair to create the pigtails. The look of this is much more like the modern painting than the curls of the Marc Davis art I was going for, but this will be much more comfortable to wear (at dcon, the clips of the ponytails were digging into my ears the whole time and I have really sensitive ears so it hurt *whiney face*)
Horrible photo:
I forgot to take pics last night so I was trying to take a few quick pics before I left for work and it was really just too dark. But you get the idea. I think it’ll look much better.
For now everything is just lightly pinned on, this weekend I’ll put the back bun back in and get the side curls sewn in place.
I also experimented with seeing how the skirt looks without the hoop in the hoopskirt. I didn’t want to deal with having the hoop in at Disney World, or going through security for that matter. It does make the skirt smaller (which makes me sad) but it thankfully doesn’t make it too long, which is what I was more worried about — it dropping too much and looking too much longer, since it’s already a little too long.
I am going to have to have to fix one thing on the skirt — it’s way too big. I can hold it out like 2 inches away from my stomach. WTF LOL So gotta fix that and I htink I’m going to rehem the quilted petticoat, too – it was peeking out in a few of the dcon photos.
This weekend is Delta Fan Fest, which we’ve never been to. We were planning on doing Saturday but we may not go now – just still tired after the trip, still cleaning up, trying to save money, lots of stuff. Playing it by ear. If we do go I think I’m going to wear Marie Antoinette since I haven’t worn her non-TARDIS since 2011. Really wish my pink Georgian gown was in wearable shape but it’s not — I haven’t fixed the shoulder issues yet. Got halfway through it and stopped to work on Dcon stuff. And with my sewing room in the state it’s in, there’s no fixing it before Sat. Maybe I’ll wear it to MCFC or something.
